Soprano Min Ji Cho performs diverse genres, including opera and art song, with a focus on communicating with audiences to create moving emotional experiences. Enjoying playing operatic roles on stage, Min Ji frequently represents energetic characters, such as the role of Norina from ‘Don Pasquale’ by G. Donizetti and Greta Fiorentino from ‘Street Scene’ by K. Weill. Additionally, she’s performed the roles of Pamina from ‘Der Zauberflöte’ and Susanna from ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ by W.A. Mozart. Min Ji has also performed partial roles as Despina from ‘Così fan tutte’ by W.A. Mozart and Constanse from ‘Dialogues des Carmélites’ by F. Poulenc.
Passionate about connecting audiences with classical music, Min Ji also enjoys performing art song. Through her unique and commanding voice, Min Ji authentically expresses poetry through music, bridging the gap between composer and audience. Her recent art song repertoire includes some pieces in the ‘Brettl-Lieder’ by A. Schoenberg and ‘Chants d’Auvergne’ by J. Canteloube. In addition, she’s performed a song cycle ‘Walzer-Gesänge Op. 6’ by A. Zemlinsky as well as ‘A Cycle of Life’ by L. Ronald. Min Ji has also participated in additional study at Vianden Music Festival and worked with various musicians around the world.
As a choir member, Min Ji sang with World Vision Children’s Choir from a young age, performing at the Seoul Arts Center, Seongnam Arts Center, and others. The choir was featured at various high-caliber events, including the World Children’s Choir Festival and a successful U.S. tour. Through her extensive experience, Min Ji has developed a remarkable ability to blend harmoniously with the group while also showcasing her individual talent and vocal skill during solo performances. Recently, she performed as a soprano soloist in Haydn’s Mass in C Major.
Min Ji is also very passionate about teaching. In addition to serving as a TA during her doctoral studies, she holds an Art and Culture Education Certificate and has completed the pedagogy program hosted by Westminster Choir College of Rider University.
Min Ji is currently a graduate student at The Hartt School, pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree under Cherie Caluda. She received her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance studying under William Sharp at Peabody Conservatory, where she received the George Castelle Memorial Award.
