Suryun Kim is a passionate and dedicated coloratura soprano with a deep love for music and vocal artistry.
She graduated with the highest honors from Yonsei University, one of South Korea’s most prestigious private universities, earning a bachelor’s degree in voice performance. She went on to pursue a master’s degree in music education at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of Education. She earned her Master’s degree in Voice Performance as a scholarship recipient from The Hartt School in Connecticut, where she studied under Thomas Cannon. She is now pursuing her Doctoral studies in Voice Performance at the University of Connecticut with Constance Rock.
Suryun Kim has performed a wide range of operatic roles, captivating audiences with her artistry and technique. Her notable performances include Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Violetta in La Traviata, Lucia in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and Manon in Massenet’s Manon. She has also appeared as a soloist in Mozart’s Vesperae and Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, performing with the Yonsei University Choir. In the United States, she made a special appearance at Carnegie Hall, where she introduced Korean art songs to American audiences.
In addition to her career as a performer, Suryun devoted eight years to teaching music at the high school level, where she led choirs, directed orchestras, and taught music theory. Her warm personality and sincere guidance left a lasting impression on her students.
